Meet Dr. PJ

Hello, my name is Dr. PJ Dobbins, D.C. I have been a chiropractor since 1977 and have been proudly practicing in Alameda, California since 1997.

After graduating from Sherman College in South Carolina in 1977, I opened my first chiropractic practice in Philadelphia and taught osteology and chiropractic technique at the Penn Chiropractic College. In the early 1980s, I moved to Alameda County with my husband, Dr. Michael Dobbins. We raised our three sons while he completed his chiropractic degree. During that time, I continued teaching chiropractic seminars and later earned a second chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West. I was honored with the Clinical Excellence Award during both of my graduations.

We opened our family practice in Alameda in 1997. Over the years, Dr. Michael also taught for Standard Process and helped patients understand how whole food nutrition supports cellular health and proper nerve energy. Together, our mission was to help patients reach their full human potential through chiropractic care and long-term wellness practices.

Although I value traditional manual adjustments, I also specialize in the Activator Methods Technique. This gentle and research-supported approach uses precise analysis to locate and correct vertebral subluxations. It allows me to treat a wide range of patients safely and effectively, from newborns to seniors. In addition to chiropractic care, I offer nutritional counseling and have recently introduced StemWave therapy as part of a holistic and restorative treatment plan.

Our family practice has grown and changed over the years. Our son Patrick practiced with us for a time before moving to Florida, where he is raising four children. Our son Andrew owns a successful business called Intelligent Design in Tucson, Arizona, and is also raising four children. Our youngest son, Christopher, is currently studying at Palmer Chiropractic College and is expected to graduate in 2026.

After my husband passed away in 2013, I continued the practice we built together. It remains my calling and my great joy to serve this community, offering personalized care grounded in experience, compassion, and a deep respect for the body’s natural ability to heal. I very much look forward to meeting you!
