Dr. PJ incorporates the Activator Method into her chiropractic practice—a gentle, precise technique that uses a small handheld device to deliver targeted adjustments to the spine and joints. This low-force, high-speed approach allows for effective realignment without the need for traditional manual adjustments.
This technique provides a comfortable, non-invasive option for patients seeking relief from musculoskeletal pain while promoting optimal spinal health.

Chiropractic adjustments, also known as spinal manipulation, are hands-on techniques performed by chiropractors to restore proper alignment and function to the spine and other joints. These gentle, controlled movements help to relieve pressure on nerves, reduce inflammation, and improve overall mobility. By correcting misalignments, chiropractic adjustments promote natural healing and enhance the body’s ability to function optimally.
While many adjustments are performed using the activator method, on occasion, patients may require the manual technique. Dr. PJ has been an instructor for the manual technique for many years, bringing expert precision and skill to each session. Her experience ensures that every adjustment is safe, effective, and customized to the needs of each patient.

After acute care is resolved, we encourage Maintenance Care as part of a proactive wellness plan. Chiropractic Maintenance Care is a form of ongoing, preventative treatment aimed at maintaining optimal spinal alignment and overall health. Unlike corrective care, which focuses on treating existing pain or injuries, maintenance care is designed to prevent future issues and support long-term wellness.
Key Benefits of Chiropractic Maintenance Care:
Prevents Recurring Pain: Regular adjustments help prevent the return of chronic pain and reduce the risk of future injuries.
Improves Posture and Alignment: Consistent care promotes proper spinal alignment, which improves posture and reduces strain on muscles and joints.
Enhances Mobility and Flexibility: Maintenance adjustments help keep joints mobile, enhancing overall flexibility and range of motion.
Boosts Immune System Function: Studies suggest that spinal health is linked to immune system efficiency.
Reduces Stress and Tension: Regular care can alleviate physical tension and contribute to better relaxation and stress management.

BioMeridian
Biomeridian Testing is a non-invasive method that evaluates energy flow throughout the body's meridian pathways. These pathways are linked to various organs and systems, reflecting overall health and identifying potential imbalances.
During the assessment, a gentle electrical current is applied to specific points on the hands and feet. This painless process measures the body's energetic responses, helping to detect nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, digestive concerns, immune system stress, and allergies and sensitivities.
Biomeridian Testing provides valuable insights that can guide personalized wellness strategies. Discover a proactive approach to health and well-being with this advanced, holistic assessment.

Several thousand years ago, East Asian practitioners discovered that the body forms disharmonies as a result of the various physical and mental stresses of life. Traditional Chinese Medicine explains these disharmonies as an imbalance of opposing forces called yin and yang. This imbalance disrupts the movement of the body's vital energy (qi) along the meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body's energy is thought to flow. Acupuncture restores the smooth flow of qi. By inserting and manipulating needles at specific points on the body, the body is assisted in returning to its natural balance, which promotes the body's ability to heal itself.

Functional medicine is an evidence-based approach to evaluating systemic health. Lab tests, especially blood work, are evaluated along with an in-depth patient exam and interview, to identify areas of imbalance. These are then addressed with comprehensive diet and lifestyle recommendations, as well as nutritional supplements, vitamins and minerals as needed. Follow ups to reevaluate and fine-tune the plan can be done remotely via tele-health, and are usually done every month or two, depending on circumstances.

Acupressure is similar to acupuncture except that manual pressure instead of needles is applied to the various points. It is similar to a deep tissue massage but with more focus on specific points.

Cupping is an ancient technique, used in many cultures, in which a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction. Traditional cupping, sometimes referred to as “fire cupping," uses a small flame to create a vacuum-like suction inside of glass cups (despite the name, this does not heat the glass or feel hot on the skin). The suction draws superficial tissue into the cup. For most pain syndromes Dr. Amenti performs what is called "moving cupping": she spreads a thin layer of high grade massage oil on the skin first and then moves the cup slowly along the body. Like a reverse massage it gently pulls up and created space within the muscle and connective tissue, bringing fresh blood and lymph to the area to improve circulation. Cupping can be tailored to a comfortable and appropriate level of suction for each individual. Please call (510) 334-7816 for cupping appointments.

Acupuncture points can be stimulated by vibration as well as by needles; for very sensitive patients including children Acu-Sound Therapy is a wonderful option This uses the vibration of a tuning fork on the points instead of needles. It is extremely gentle and pleasant. It is also used sometimes for deepening the relaxation of a treatment, in addition to traditional acupuncture.
